Abdullahi Mohamed Haji is the Executive Director of the Somali Humanitarian Magazine (SHM). He leads the magazine with a strong commitment to giving Somali people a space to share their own stories, especially those who are affected by crisis, conflict, or hardship. Abdullahi believes that storytelling is not just about information — it’s about connection, dignity, and truth.
He has years of experience working with local communities, media teams, and humanitarian organizations across Somalia. Through this work, he has seen how important it is to let people speak for themselves. That’s why SHM focuses on Somali-led storytelling — from camps, clinics, schools, farms, and neighborhoods — where real life is happening every day.
As Executive Director, Abdullahi guides the magazine’s direction, makes sure all stories are accurate and respectful, and helps build partnerships with local NGOs, youth groups, and writers. He also supports the volunteer team, helping to grow a new generation of Somali journalists, storytellers, and media changemakers.
Under Abdullahi’s leadership, SHM is becoming a trusted space where people can share their voices, reflect on their challenges, and celebrate their resilience. His vision is simple but powerful: to use stories to build understanding and to remind the world that behind every headline, there are human beings.
