Adnan Abdukadir Ahmed is the Research and Development Manager at the Somali Humanitarian Magazine (SHM). He plays a key role in helping the magazine grow with purpose — by guiding our research work, building strong content strategies, and making sure our stories are supported by facts, field insights, and thoughtful planning.
Adnan works closely with the editorial team to shape every issue of the magazine. He helps select themes, review research materials, and ensure that our content is based on both local knowledge and wider humanitarian data. Whether it’s checking the accuracy of a field report, summarizing a new NGO publication, or analyzing gaps in coverage, Adnan makes sure our magazine stays useful, honest, and informed.
His work also supports long-term planning. Adnan helps develop new ideas for SHM — from special volumes and regional coverage, to knowledge tools for humanitarian workers and students. He connects with researchers, NGOs, and community organizations to gather reports, studies, and briefings that deepen our storytelling.
With a strong background in humanitarian research and content development, Adnan brings focus and clarity to SHM’s editorial mission. He believes that good storytelling begins with good understanding — and that research should always be grounded in the real lives and voices of the people we serve.
Thanks to Adnan’s leadership in research and planning, SHM continues to grow as a trusted, Somali-led platform for knowledge, storytelling, and action.
