Editor-in-Chief

Mohamed Liban Isak

Mohamed Liban Isak is the Editor-in-Chief of the Somali Humanitarian Magazine (SHM). He leads the magazine’s editorial work with care, focus, and a deep belief in the power of local storytelling. As a writer and editor with strong ties to humanitarian issues in Somalia, Mohamed works to make sure every story is meaningful, respectful, and true to the voices of the people who live it.

He helps shape each volume of the magazine — from choosing themes and reviewing articles, to working closely with contributors across the country. Mohamed believes that real change begins with honest stories, and that Somalis deserve to be seen and heard through their own words and experiences.

As Editor-in-Chief, he also mentors young writers, supports volunteer contributors, and ensures that the magazine speaks clearly to both Somali and international audiences. His role is not only to edit — but to listen, guide, and protect the heart of SHM’s storytelling.

Mohamed’s vision is to make SHM a space where dignity comes first, where stories are not just told — but felt.
